Privacy & Terms

Payment for classes will constitute a contract between the person making the payment "you" and Allora Dance, and acceptance of the following terms and conditions:

1. PRIVACY STATEMENT:

a.   Relevant information is gathered and stored for the purposes of ensuring that appropriate lessons are offered to each student, and for the purposes of safeguarding. This information includes:

                         i.        The names of all students and the ages of children;

                         ii.       The names of a child’s parent/s and/or guardian/s;

                       iii.       Contact information including mobile numbers, postal addresses and email addresses where provided;

                       iv.       Relevant medical information where provided;

                       v.       Information regarding methods of payment (simply ‘cash’ or ‘card’ – not personal financial information);

                     vi.       Dates of lessons attended and sums paid.

b.  Examples of how this information is used:

                         i.         To contact you regarding changes to lessons;

                         ii.        To send invoices;

                       iii.       To comply with safeguarding policies.

  iv.        To comply with the requirements of the Local Council or other such authorities

This information is used and stored in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR).

2. SAFEGUARDING:

a.   Allora Dance is committed to the safeguarding of all students. Everyone who comes into contact with a child (except for assistants under the age of 16) hold current Enhanced DBS checks.

b.   The nature of dance teaching often involves the use of touch in order to correct technique. This is conducted in line with safeguarding best practice guidelines issued by the exam board, BBO Dance. BBO Dance’s Safeguarding Policy can be found here: https://bbo.dance/images/Policies/bbodance_Safeguarding_Children_and_Child_Protection_Policy_and_Procedures_2018_web_version.pdf Further information is available on request.

c.   If a student or parent has any concerns regarding the safeguarding of a student, this can be reported to Jess (Principal) in the first instance. Alternatively, this can be reported directly to BBO Dance via the contacts in the link in 2(a) above.

3. PAYMENT:

a.  All classes are invoiced termly. Payment for classes must be made a minimum of two weeks in advance of the first lesson. The student's place is not confirmed until payment has been successfully received by Allora Dance. Failure to make the payment by the date specified on the invoice will result in the space in the lesson being offered to an alternative student, and the original student may have to join the waiting list to re-join the class.

b. Please keep note of all payments for your own records. In the instance of a dispute, unless the student (or their parent/guardian if the student is a child) is unable to provide evidence of payment, the records kept by Allora Dance will be deemed to be correct.

c. If you have not received an invoice by the expected date (two weeks before the end of term), it is your responsibility to bring this to the attention of the Principal.

d. Refunds will not be authorised for missed lessons due to illness, holidays or similar.

4. CANCELLATION OF CLASSES

a.   If a class does not gain a sufficient number of students, it may be cancelled. At least one weeks’ notice will be given by Allora Dance to the student (or their parent/guardian) and a full refund for the terms’ lessons will be issued.

b.   In the unlikely event that a class must be cancelled at short notice, notification by Facebook Messenger or email will be provided and reimbursement for the lesson cost will be issued.

c.   Refunds and reimbursement is limited to the cost of the lesson, and does not include liability for any other loss or expense caused by the cancellation of the lesson.

d.   Allora Dance and its teachers are responsible for the safety of the students for the duration of the lesson, however responsibility does not extend to outside of the lesson. Students must be dropped off and collected promptly, and must not be allowed to congregate around the premises. Any loss or injury caused to or by a student on the premises outside of the lesson times will not be the responsibility of Allora Dance or its teachers.

e.    Allora Dance holds Public Liability Insurance.

5. TERMINATION:

 a.   Termination of a students' place in the school will only be accepted by notification in writing (by email, Facebook Messenger, text or writing).

b. The date of termination will taken as the date of receipt of written confirmation to Allora Dance.

c. If a student (or their parent/guardian) decides to leave the school (and thereby terminate the contract) during the term, the student or their parent/guardian must give one week (7 calendar days) notice. A refund for the rest of the term will then be granted by the method by which the initial payment was made. For the avoidance of doubt, if a student is due to attend a lesson on a Monday, but provides written confirmation that they wish to terminate the contract on the previous Tuesday, they will not be entitled to reimbursement for the following Monday's lesson, but will be entitled to a refund for the payment made for the rest of the term (by the method by which the initial payment was made).

d. Allora Dance may terminate the contract with the student (or their parent/guardian) and refuse further lessons if the student (and/or their parent/guardian) behaves in a manner which the teacher deems to be dangerous, disrespectful or disruptive. If a student is excluded from a class on these grounds, no refund will be given. The decision of the principal is final.

6. NOTIFICATION OF CHANGES

a.   Allora Dance reserves the right to make amendments to this contract. Changes will be notified to the student (or their parent/guardian) via the method by which the initial enquiry was made.

7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

a.   It is the responsibility of the students (or their parent/guardian if the student is under 18 year of age) to notify the teacher of any medical conditions that may affect the student’s participation in the lesson. Allora Dance and its teachers will not be liable for loss or damage caused by medical conditions, whether temporary or permanent, which were not brought to the attention of the teacher prior to the lesson.

b.   Teachers will not be held responsible for loss or injury caused by teaching or occurring during the lesson, with the exception of errors caused by negligence.

c.   Allora Dance and its teachers do not accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.
